In this episode of Brazilian Break, we simulate visiting a Brazilian friend’s house — because in Brazil, when someone welcomes you into their home, you might get the full tour: living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, plants, fridge, and the classic “entra, fica à vontade”.

We talk about everyday Brazilian home culture, like showing the rooms, offering food, letting guests open the fridge, offering a shower, and explaining the terrifying electric shower without scaring the guest too much.

And of course, in the middle of the visit, we also talk about one very important verb in Brazilian Portuguese: ter.

You’ll hear examples like:

Tem uma poltrona rosa.
Tem copo ali no armário.
Eu tenho um gato branco.
Elas têm nove e onze anos.
Eu tenho saudades.

In Brazilian Portuguese, we use ter to talk about possession, existence, age, and even feelings. Basically, Brazilians have a lot going on.

A light, useful episode full of everyday Portuguese for anyone who wants to understand how Brazilians talk, welcome guests, and turn a simple house tour into a vocabulary lesson.
