During a debate with a pastor, Madalyn Murray O'Hair famously dismissed the idea of a god in the sky with the phrase “no top banana in the sky.” That line is pure punk gold — irreverent, sarcastic, provocative, and unmistakably Madalyn.
The song is based on her response to a classic Christian misconception: that atheists simply claim there is no God. Her answer was clear and uncompromising: “We don't say that. We don't know.” Instead of pretending to know what cannot be demonstrated, she argued that we should live according to the evidence we actually have — and live our lives here and now.
